Looking Back!!!

Taking account for President Bush's speech and the fact I went on some pretty liberal blogs today , and left comments, I might get some negative feedback if you know what I mean!
But that is what I am about, I will give my opinion, and I will be ready for you to give me yours.
My take? Looking back at the reason why we are here, and you knowI have commented before about the subject, but regardless of the reason we are here, WE ARE, you can take all the polls you want and debate if we should have gone in, BUT WE DID!!!!!! Now, what are you gonna do to solve where we are at now! In my opinion, when the President says we have to stay here longer, well HELLO, we can't pull out now!!!! Do you know what that would do? Well, be prepared for an Al Quieda victory, and confidence that would bring attacks galore to the US!
We are in this, and that is just the way it is! I believe in the cause, and EVERYONE after Sept. 11th was on board, but being that we haven't had ANY serious terror attacks near home everyone gets all cocky and thinks it was a once in a lifetime thing! Yeah til the next one! Come on, I like Fox news, but they had Greta Van Sustren LIVE from Aruba covering the missing girl from the US! God Bless the girl, but her family was calling for the Marines to get activated to help find her! What makes her more important than the hundreds of other kids missing per day! Why does she get the coverage? You tell me! I have my opinion!
Also, that psycho chick who walked out on her fiance in Georgia, and faked kidnapping!
My gosh!!!!!! Who wants to hear her life story? She made $ off the deal!!! I guess you get rewarded for your problems!
I only say these things cause when I watch the news here, it is so funny to get a perspective that I never had, and then hear the spoiled American way!!!! WE ARE SPOILED! I AM SPOILED!!!!! I admit it, but I don't take myself too seriously, and am able to admit it!
You never had it so good in the states! Even with gas so expensive, and the politics, and the drama about Nick and Jessica, and Tom and Katie! BTW, I love Tom Cruise, but WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT RELIGION! Take your young hottie, and do it til your satisfied!
OK thats enough!!
Later,
Erik

No backlash here... I'm one (of the few??) who has always shook my head at the self centered-ness of Americans and our spoiled ways. We don't appreciate what we have, we don't look towards our past to learn from and we are too caught up in 'me me me'.

I hate having you guys over there, I'd love to have you ALL home (my brother is actually on his way to Iraq soon actually, having recently come back from serving in the Sinai). HOWEVER what I have been saying to liberal spouters is that once you are there you have to finish the job. We CANT just pull out. It would be like a teacher leaving a room of kindergarteners to teach themselves after just 1 week of school. They can't. They don't know how yet. They have to be shown, taught and helped. Only after a bit of training and help can they self regulate themselves.

So...
I hate to have you over there, but I know you guys are making a difference when I read the Iraqi peoples' side... and DONT watch/listen to the American Media's (liberal American Medias) side.

You said that so well Erik. I could not have said it better.
Everybody wants a timetable for withdrawal. I would love that. I think President Bush made it pretty clear. His timetable is, when the Iraqi troops are ready, we will leave. That sounds like a timetable to me. If the insurgency wants us out, then stop the killing. Can't these people hear what Bush is saying.
The Americans, including me, are a spoiled bunch. Instant results, that is our motto.
The media is out of control.

I can't find any fault with what you've said. Sometimes I think that the people who don't like the President feel like they must "be against" him.

My history teacher always said that the best forecast of the future was the past. I think that may be part of the problem; everyone seems to forget the past. Hitler didn't attack us either, but that didn't make him a good guy.

Ugh. I should probably climb off this high horse and let someone else on. :)

What kind of goodies are you needing over there? I'm really good at CARE packages and haven't had someone specific to send to since my brother returned.

Let's see - 60 years later & we still haven't withdrawn from Germany; 52 years later & we still haven't withdrawn from Korea. Ten years later & we still haven't completely withdrawn from Bosnia (The Bush haters don't seem to remember that it was their beloved Clinton who put us there with the explicit promise it would be 12 months - no more guaranteed). What Iraq really needs is the might of the US Military to truly conquer the country like we did to the Axis powers in WWII. Only then will we be done.

Erik,
Thank you for an awesome post. I would give anything not to have our soldiers over there BUT it's a necessary thing. I remember what our President said in one of his speeches - quite a while back. It really put things into perspective. He said that every soul longs to be free - it is a God given right to live in freedom. If America does not have the courage to do what needs to be done, who will lead the way? Germany is free because we were not afraid to stand up to Hitler; Vietnam is a better country today because of the bloodshed of our troops over there in such large numbers. We didn't leave the way we chose to, but we left behind a great statement about what our country stands for. Our nation is free because a group of young colonists stood up to men in red coats who came to destroy the dreams and visions first brought here by the Pilgrims. And our souls are free because God sacrificed His own Son for our sins...In this mother's heart of mine, I will be afraid when my son in law returns to the sandbox...but I will continue to be proud of the cause he believes is worth fighting for and I will always be thankful that our nation did not look the other way. No cause worth fighting for is hopeless - because if it were, warriors throughout history would have given up. Thank you for your service my friend...there are many proud and thankful Americans here praying and waiting for your safe return.
Sue
