Whatever way you want to twist your words!

An email that is going around the country I guess!
From your hero and mine! Michael "Cutey Pie" Moore!
That is not a picture of him, but it might as well be, and the BOLD writing is my response to his hate!

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

I don't know if you saw them Michael, but those were Blackhawks flying around on the news, that the News helicopters were hovering in the air SHOOTING FILM! Thanks for all the HELP MEDIA!

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

I don't know if you have a clue Michael, but us NG members have what we call LIVES, and we are not waiting by the phone for YOU! I have to say for the NG the response was pretty fast.
For someone like YOU that critiscizes so much about the military, you sure think were good now huh! Think about it, someone has to get the call, get to the unit, get their equipment, get to the airport, fly to the location, and get a mission! HELLO Einstein, even 5 days would be good, but there were soldiers there in 2!

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you?

Michael, please refer to the attached email I sent to YOU that said that, YES, President Bush, in fact, was trying to pressure the LA. governor, as well as the N.O. mayor into ACCEPTING federal aid! This was on Friday! They REFUSED federal aid, saying it would make THEM look bad! The President declared the area a disaster area BEFORE the hurricane, so federal aid would kick in IMMEDIATLY! Keep in mind also that even as close as that Sat. before the storm, President Bush urged the governor to ORDER a FULL evacuation! She chose to order a voluntary one! Also keep in mind that the National Weather Service called BOTH the mayor and the governor Fri. to let them know that this as gonna be HUGE! They had gotten a weather bouy 240 miles off the coast to measure a 68 ft. high wave before the bouy itself was DESTROYED! What were you saying about President Bush Michael? This was researched by a Merrit Island FL. writer, and like your sputum you throw, it is not proven, but if I gotta believe someone it wouldn't be you!

I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

That is just an ignorant comment that pretty much shows that the rest of this letter is snot!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

Um, Michael, in all honesty, what would you expect the President to do, especially if barely anyone else was getting into N.O. And he DID fly over it, and THAT was made fun of, but your little story make much more sense!

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

Michael, I am getting mixed reports on this! I guess according to the local N.O. government the dykes weren't broken, and were sufficient! What would more money have done if they were sufficient? So, you are saying that they were ABOUT to be fixed, and now President Bush killed all those people cause HE took away the money? And the ignorant comment about the Corps of Engineers just so you don't forget to mention the War in Iraq! You know that is a false ignorant comment, cause they are mostly civilians in the Corps of Engineers, and they are STILL in the cities they jave ALWAYS been in! Now you are just whining Michael! OH YEAH, we ARE creating democracy in Iraq, just come take a look!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand
on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that!
I didn't see you EVEN flying over N.O., but I am sure YOU had better things to do! Like spread the good word in your eyes! Funny, I thought he acted like a commander in chief, and flying over the city showed that to me, and HE'S MY COMMANDER IN CHIEF! Commander in Chief is a military term Michael, and he is not YOUR commander in chief, he is your President!
Show a little respect for people sometimes, and remember YOU are part of the Democratic good ol boys! HYPOCRITE!!!!

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

You mean politicize it like you are Michael? I guess YOU knew this would happen didn't you?
You knew what the results would be, ad the devestation that would take place! Why weren't you making a movie about THIS Michael, oh wise one! Oh yeah, and President Bush was going to STOP the hurricane! Michael, if you are gonna spew this garbage, at least tell me what he was suppose to do! Why is it you never give solutions? All you do is complain of your plight!
Do something about SOLVING the problem!

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

Was it Clintons fault then, who's fault was it that 30% of N.O. lives in poverty! The President of the United States! That's right, they became poor when Bush come into office! Oh yeah, I am SURE there were white people on their roofs for 5 days as well! But, YOUR media is the one who showed the ones that were black. Again, How is that Bush's fault again?

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.
Yours,
Michael Moore
MMFlint@aol.com
http://www.michaelmoore.com/

Oh they are there Michael, but are YOU? I think with some of that cash you made off of critiscizing Bush could be used to charter a plane, or helicopter to get some people out of there!
Or maybe get some busses and do soemthing about it! Maybe you are now, and that would be nice of you, but HELP us all and the victims and quit trying to divide rather than unite! You do more harm than good!

P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up with them before they get to DC on September 21st.

Old news Michael, and thanks for admitting she was annoying, I just wish all those parents would quit trying to prove a political point by using the memories of their deceased HEROS!
Wow, you know as well as I do that that is a cold thing to do! Being a soldier, I will say that I don't want ANYONE to use ME as a pawn for their political beliefs after I die! If they do then their beliefs must not have enough merit to stand on their own!

The American people made this guys a Hypocritical Millionare, who thinks he has all the answers! WAIT A MINUTE, I NEVER HEARD HIM GIVE ANY ANSWERS, JUST THE PROBLEMS!
You are probably wondering why this situation does to affect ME? Well, for all the stuff he spews, the insurgents SEE the discord in our country and use it as fuel to their fire and it gives them DRIVE, and satisfaction that the public is against our government AND our miltary! In essence people like this STAIN are hurting our chances over here! Believe it or not, IT IS TRUE! In that case MICHAEL MOORE is getting people killed over here, and I guess if we use his methodoligy we can say HE is a TERRORIST! Yes, Michael Moore is a terrorist, who gets American soldiers killed! That is the way HE looks at things, and that is the way I see him!

Have a great day, and I got a HUGE box together with toiletries, and hats, and gloves and games, I am gonna send to Camp Ripley for the victims of the hurricane when they get there!

Later,
Erik

Erik,

What an excellent post. My hat is off to you. This is wonderful. I could not have answered his stupid crap any better than you have done. Everything that you ahve said is so right. Michael Moore is a total looser. Our President and our troops Commander in Chief is NUMBER 1 in my book. He has done and is doing an excellent job.

Hope you have a great day Erik.

Again, wonderful post.

What a great post - I won't get started on Michael Moore, but he is as my dad would say - as worthless as tits on a boar. (I guess I am going to owe your daughter a dollar)

I actually agree with Moore, our President didn't handle this disaster appropriately. If Katrina hit Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard, I'm pretty sure there would have been aid from start to finish, not 5 days of waiting. As for the NG? Well, Bush could have activated them earlier, they could have been ready to go before the storm as a precautionary measure, don't you think? Now, the other points of the letter... Ms. Sheehan is using her freedom of speech, one of the rights her son died for. The war in Iraq is a bit misguided, we're FORCING democracy on another country. I support our troops to the fullest extent, but our President's original motives for going in were not pure. Now that we're there, we need to finish what we started.

Hey Seeing double!
You can't activate 40,000 NG members in ADVANCE because you don't even know what the damage will be! Remember NG members have jobs as well, and if you took away those people to sit and wait and you don't need them, it would be an uproar! It just doesn't work that way! Now, you might have missed my comments about Bush's attempt to prepare in advance with the local government denying the help, AND the 500 busses because they said they had 500 busses at their own call in case! Hmmm.....
I guess I will have to post the whole email tommorrow that will make the people that said you should have prepared in advance!

Don't even get me started on that MM moron. I did the exact same thing in my head when I watched Farenheight 911. I just kept responding to what he was saying in his stupid little documentary.

Excellent post, Erik.

I too, really dislike Michael Moore, despite being a liberal myself. He's an ass. Thanks for your email earlier, Erik. It is something to think aobut. I still question why that hasn't made the larger news though. Why only to the armed forces??

I understand what you are saying though, about dissention here not helping at all over there. I will keep my (small, unimportant)mouth shut on this matter. Though I have plenty of thoughts on the matter.

For seeingdouble:
The authority to mobilize the NG for a state mission lies with the state government, not the federal government. There is a time and place for federal authorities to usurp state authority but it rarely will happen until after the state has requested help. It seems very unfortunate to me that the predominate news story was how to blame the Bush administration for this disaster & the alleged delayed response.
The scope & magnitude of this situation was very different from anything we have experienced previously. However, when if one is to compare this response to other major hurricanes, you will actually find a very similar reaction timeline. In other words, the difference in outcome had nothing to do with the people (politicians or victims) involved, but what was waiting in the aftermath of the storm. Unless there had been different preparations made before the storm, there was very little that could have been done after the storm based on what we knew from previous tragedies.
If you want to blame politicians, you really need to start at the bottom, with the Mayor of New Orleans and then move up the chain. I don’t think there is anyone out there that really believes the President of the United States has the responsibility to manage the day-to-day operations of a city or state. That is the glory of our United States – the autonomy afforded the state & city governments.
Compare & contrast this tragedy to the terrorist attack on 11 SEP 01. The Mayor of New York took the lead – he didn’t run around wringing his hands, complaining on TV about how no one cared. He put things in motion immediately without waiting for big government help. He has been largely credited (& rightly so) with leading us out of that tragedy stronger then before, it is too bad the same cannot be said now.
Like with the war in Iraq all we hear about is the horrible things happening in NO; in reality, if you speak with the people on the ground, the good things out number the bad by a significant margin – but you wouldn’t know it from the coverage.
By the way – Louisiana, like any other state with a deployed troops has more Guard troops at home then overseas – so the noise that they couldn’t respond because they are deployed is just more bunk.

SGT Holtan,
Let me know if there is anything you need from me. There really is not anymore news on the reorg then what I have previously provided. It truly isn’t anything to be concerned with – no one will lose their job.

Erik,
Sorry that I am late in posting today but I'm soooo glad that I got to read your blog tonight. Quite personally, I believe that President Bush will be exonerated of many things from the WMD to the latest nonsense about the hurricane. No matter what he does there are people who criticize him.
Thanks for another excellent post Erik...
Be blessed.

Why are none of these Libs taking a close look at Mayor Nagin? Is HE not the one responsible for making sure the ihabitants of NO are safe? They've known that all it would take to overflow the levees was a Category 3 hurricane; Katrina hit that status 2 full days before she it! Let's put the blame where it really belongs: squarely on Mayor Nagin's shoulders.
