Tempers are flaring!

We had our redeployment brief/Suicide Awareness at the chapel today, and god knows some of us needed it! It talks about the transition going home, and how long it SHOULD take to get back in the groove, and how to coincide with the wife and kids. Also, signs of depression, and things like that! I mean, for me personally life will be A LOT different than when I left. My wife no longer works as our homes breadwinner, and I WILL! That is probably a bigger adjustment for me, as Missy is pretty much acclimated to being home now, albeit without me being there. So, that means less food eaten, less laundry to do, and less farting in the house!
I won't say that it will be easier for us because we are a good communicating couple, but I think that will help us a lot. Also, neither one of us is really controlling of how we want to do things, which is good anyways when were home, but I think will help! I KNOW she wants me there to give the kids a little discipline once in awhile, and believe me, I want to give it!
As I tell my wife, and she could probably care less that I think this, but I will miss the ability to go outside without having to put a jacket on, and go excercise any time of the day! The ability to run around these beautiful lakes and buildings has been awesome, and even when I don't feel up to running, it is a getaway from the personalities the grind!
So, as far as the tempers go, some people around here have HAD IT SERIOUSLY with some others, and there is rank and stuff, but in this type of close knit environment those with short tempers don't take much to explode! Plus, we are SO close to leaving yet time goes so slow some days, it makes it harder!
I took this pic after I ran this morning because I LOVE the fact that it is Nov. 20th and I can go out and exercise and sweat my ass off! I LOVE IT!
But when I get home, ask my wife, I will run on the treadmill watching the TV, and wear a sweatshirt! By the way, the treadmill was one of the best purchases we ever made. A good one though, I think we have put thousands of miles on that thing!
Well, have a great Saturday, and GO GOPHERS over the Iowa Hawkeyes for Floyd of Rosedale!
Later,
Erik

Erik,
Great post and I am so happy that you are so close to being on your way home.
Not trying to get too heavy or anything, but in 1 Corinthians 13 there is a verse that says "love endures all things." I think you and Mis and the kids will be a living example of that - there might be difficulties at times, but you will get past them all. We are waiting for that rear view mirror picture Erik and praying for your safety.
God bless you my friend.

You'll also find that it will take some time for the kids and Missy to get used to you even being there. When Coffeehusband and I have lived apart at various times for moves the kids and I are so self sufficient when he returns home that he feels a bit left out, and the kids instinctivly come to me and call out 'mom' for everything... yada yada. Also it's going to be hard for Missy to have another person there to clean up after, cook for and such. I know the initial thought is "NO WAY! We miss each other too much to complain about anything..." but the newness wears off quickly and 'real life' sets in.

It takes about a month to restructure family placement, jobs, chores and for the kids to acclimate to 'two' parents instead of one. ;)

Good Morning! Good points in your posts, sometimes it helps to have it said out loud - it's not going to be the same as it was when I left. You and Mis have a great marriage & family - not all of the guys/gals over there have that - so it will be difficult for some.

I can't imagine the adjustment that you will go through, but I know it's going to be fantastic to be home with all your loved ones.

Hang in there...don't kill anyone even if they did take your breakfast Snickers... :)
