I forgot this one!

Shut,
you know what?
I put up my SPF yesterday, and was concentrating on my Anniversary, but I just went through the motions with the other ones, however the day before, I had went to the location in this picture, just for the occasion of Veterans Day!
This location was the site of the heroism of SFC Paul Smith who was confined within these walls during the intial battle of the Invasion of Iraq!
Well, SFC Smith used his TC hatch and fired his 50 cal. until all the ammo was spent. He noticed hundreds of Iraqi soldiers attacking and overcoming that location, and saved tons of U.S. soldiers lives that day with the 3rd ID. He is the only person since Vietnam to recieve the Medal of Honor! The highest award a military can recieve. Sadly, he was killed while fighting that battle, but was SO insrumental in that mission that 3rd ID was abe to swiftly secure BIAP!

This guy is a hero, and was like a 1 man Rambo for a little bit!
Go to this link and read the story, it has GREAT re-creations of the attack!
Have a good day!
Later,
Erik

Thanks for sharing this story with us Erik. You too are a hero Erik, and we can't thank you enough for what you have done, are doing and will continue to do for our country. Have an enjoyable weekend and stay safe.
Erik,
I agree with Stacy - YOU are a hero as well. And the story is just another reason why this site is so great - you tell us things that we may not have otherwise heard on the news. Stories that are important.
Have a safe weekend Erik.
All of you that are my heros. Thanks to you I have a great life with my family, in a great country that cannot be compared to any other.

Be safe Eric, thank you for sharing this story.

sorry I yelled at you the other day.
It was a bad day
Love the tribute for your anniversary below and the picture of you is great. I hope your kids will print and keep the pics of you in Iraq forever.
