Again...........we wait!!
Well, we wait another day for our letters, and I have to say that I am not as patient today!
However, NOT at the process that we have to go through to wait for the stuff we need to be released from Bliss. I feel VERY fortunate to not have trained for 6 months BEFORE I went to Iraq, and I also feel fortunate to be able to spend such a short time here AFTER deployment to Iraq.
The problem I have is all the higher ranking officers and NCO's that are just appalled that they are being "held hostage" while waiting. They have complained like a baby since the first day it didn't come in, and now they have continued and have put the blame on the people here at Bliss for not getting out of here in 3 or 4 days.
You should be glad and blessed that you even made it home to Bliss to see the Franklin Mts. in the skyline! Plenty of people WON'T!!!!
These are our leaders folks! These are the people that you are supposed to trust to have YOUR best interest in mind in WAR!!!!! But they bitch and complain like they should be treated differently than every other DEMOB sight in the U.S.!
One of our fearless leaders got our state invloved in this process, and I am DISGUSTED by that notion that our group is more important than others that need to get these releases from Virginia! See, we deal with a lot of "maybes" as I mentioned yesterday! I would be fine if they told me that they won't be ready til Monday and then put me on pass til then. I would then fly home and see the family, and fly back and outprocess. But, since there is a "maybe" and mainly because so many heroes are complaining, that they want to give them SOME hope! That affects us patient ones that know that it isn't anyones here's fault!
I know certain leaders of ME, who have vacation plans trying to streamline the process of maybes for their own benefit. I just HATE sitting around checking back, changing flight plans everyday KNOWING that we probably will be having to change them the next day!
YES, WE ALL WANT TO GO HOME, BUT THERE IS A PROCESS!!! NO ONE WANTS TO MAKE PEOPLE STAY!
Here's another thing!! I am NOT gonna put on the sight what time my flight is gonna come in.
I DO NOT want a "proper" military welcome in MPLS! I want my family and friends there and that is it! Why would the MNARNG give a crap about me at the airport when they didn't give a crap about me when I was gone? See my PROMISE to ALL the people from my unit who are going to Iraq, is that I WILL keep asking how you are doing while you are there, and if you or your family needs anything while you are gone. That is MY duty as a unit member, a friend, and a citizen. If you don't get an email from me asking how your doing AT LEAST every couple weeks then I will need to be SMACKED! My life will NOT be too busy for that!!
I have had PLENTY of people give GREAT support when I have been gone, but unless they were a friend, my unit gave me NONE since last spring! Now, the friends that did are going to Iraq. I'll be there for them and their families. Don't get me wrong the person who heads our FSG(Family Support Group) have sent some emails to my wife the whole time, and I think she got some help, but I have to say that since I have been gone, I have LOST my EMT certification for my Medical job in the military, and all for dumb reasons. I went to all my recertifications, and pushed BEFORE I left to make sure they were documented, then I left. Well, here I am WITHOUT my EMT License! I reenlisted for 6 years in March, and I like the Guard, but I have also learned this year how LAZY and selfish people are!
I can say THIS about ACTIVE DUTY! When they say they are going to do something they WILL get it done! I am in the GUARD, that is all I will say about that!
Feel free, ANYONE, to respond to this and call it BULLSHIT! At least it would be a response!
Later,
Erik

Ok... It's bullshit. :)
(dang... I never say that word. EVER! And you made me.)
Patience is a virtue... patience is a virtue.... repeat 731 times.
Welcome back to the states Erik, I spent my time at Bliss (active duty) and processing (Honduras)but that was several years ago. I know there is not much down there but there is a rock on the mountian where my first child was concivied. Hope that is spelled right. If the generic burger stand is still there that was a cheap place to eat. I know you have it this before but I want you to know that as a former soldier I want to thank you at your team for doing what few have the guts to do. You are willing to stand up for your beliefs and fullfil your commitments. God bless you all and once again welome home.

Oh boy do I hear that! Such is the military life! I'm "just the wife" and don't have to live the crap that goes on the same way my DH does..It's hard to believe how people behave that we are supposed to rely on as leaders in times of war..the horror stories I have heard! Good luck to you and your family..Hope you see them soon. Glad you are back in the states, and Thank you again, for all you have done for our country! Stacie
You know Erik I am the same way. i would much rather have to know when I am doing something and have to wait than have someone tell me you might leave oops maybe tomorrow.
