Moving it up!
So I spent today at a convention manning a booth and I have to say my voice is now hoarse, but all in all people that know me can say I like to talk to people and today I didn't dissapoint. We are showcasing to alot of people even around the country our states reintagration program for all returning troops. It has gotten a lot of national press and is something the people who started it should be proud of, even though I don't necessarily agree with the way they present some of the material, the material noneltheless is VERY worthwile, and helpful for us! I don't know, I just think if i am coming back, I don't want to hear how bad things can EXPECT to be, I want to know know what things CAN be like. Some people have different feelings when they get back, and everyone deals with the return differently. But we are in this convention with a booth with all kinds of service areas, like social workers, treatment facilities, and other liber......ummm helpful factions of society. I talked to SO many people today that had sons, daughters, wives, husbands, friends, and others they knew who are leaving with the 34th BCT. They are obviously anxious about their loved ones, and if anything, I hope I reassured them, the poeple they know will be taken care of and i good hands. If that made them feel better, great! I also talked to a lot of social workers that have been working with military families in our area who DO have issues related to deployment, and some stories are sad and helpless. I hope I steered them in the right direction!
So ANYWAYS, I think we are going to leave on vacation tommorrow after work instead of Friday, becasue lets face it, the Friday before spring break you get nothing done, the kids don't do jack in school, and I just like to change things on my wife. She is ready to get the heck out of Dodge though, and it will give us almost 4 days to get to Myrtle Beach. I might go via Atlanta through Savannah so I can MAYBE go to The Lady and Son's in Savannah to eat, cause we LOVE Paula Dean.
So I know I will probably hijack a hotel computer and update, but if it is sporadic than I am on vacation, but my site hits have gone up and I would like to keep it that way, so ya'll keep comin back ya hear!
Later,
Erik

Many of my family members are in the Navy, so long separations are inevitable and everyone deals with returns differently. I am a CAN DO person too. Regardless, every little bit helps, right?
I hope you have a great trip. If you go see Paula and sons, we want DETAILS and PHOTOS.

I hope your family has a great time on vacation!! Good idea about switching your departure time. I'm glad you helped make people feel better about the deploying soldiers. I wouldn't wish this empty feeling on anybody! Not easy to get over, that's for sure. It seems like this lousy feeling will never go away. So I'm thankful for people like you to help us and not forget us. Emily
holy hell........I wanna go. Can I be the nanny. It would be a great break from my OWN kids.;) Have a good time.
Enjoy your freaking vacation loser. I get to be stuck here in ohio where it is like 40 degrees. But seriously have fun and enjoy the time with your family.
Vacation like where it's warm and stuff?
You suck.
Have fun and I hope you get sand in your shorts.
